An iconic Sydney property known for its gothic architecture is back on the market, with the owners wanting around $15 million for the historic home.
Named ‘The Abbey’, the Annandale mansion was built in 1882 and sprawls 1,309 square metres, featuring four levels, nine bedrooms and six bathrooms.
The heritage-listed home is known for its gothic architecture, with many comparing its looks to Batman’s Wayne Manor.

The manor features detailed stonework, turrets, gargoyles and stained-glass windows, with views over the city skyline, Harbour Bridge and Rozelle Bay.
It also includes a converted chapel-turned-music-room and wine cellar. The former stables have been converted to a separate three-bed dwelling with a garage.
The mansion at 272 Johnston Street is listed by Black Diamondz Agency. The owners previously listed the property late last year for $15 million through a different real estate agent.
The property last sold in November 2009 for $4.86 million, which was a record price for Annandale at the time.
The new owners, Michael Hogan and Ann Sherry, restored the house over four years to 2015, with the renovation winning a National Trust Heritage Award in May of that year.
The Abbey was originally built by former mayor of Sydney John Young, who was also the principal builder of St Mary’s Cathedral. It is rumoured he took gargoyles from the cathedral to use in his homes.
Along with The Abbey, Young built a group of seven other homes around the area near Rozelle Bay.
In the 1920s, the home was converted into flats. Later, in the 1950s, it was purchased by Sydney surgeon Geoffrey Lancelot Davis who held on to the property until his death in 2008.
Members of the Davis family believed the house was haunted and there are tales of a lady in white being seen in the home.
