The Block’s Omar and Oz were roasted by judges Shaynna Blaze and Neale Whittaker on Monday after their ‘genius’ design hack to hide an unsightly water tank fell flat.
The western Sydney best mates, both 30, wanted to obscure their home’s imposing water tank from view so they covered it with a scenic photo of a country landscape.
Host Scott Cam praised their idea as ‘genius’ last week, but unfortunately the judges were not as enthusiastic.
A stunned Shaynna Blaze bluntly told the pair it ‘looks stupid and tacky’.
Neale Whittaker also didn’t mince words, adding: ‘It doesn’t work. Get rid of it.’
Despite previously praising the move, Scott told Omar and Oz the judges thought their solution was ‘kitsch and totally wrong’.
Fortunately, the judges did not penalise the pair too harshly over it, with Omar and Oz’s renovation work scoring a close second to Tom and Sarah-Jane’s.
It comes after Scott issued a grovelling apology to Omar and Oz last week when the boys were forced to present an unfinished room.
The pair were fuming earlier in the episode as they were told the builders could not finish their shed roof due to wet weather.
‘We’re the only contestants on The Block that doesn’t have a roof on their shed at the moment,’ said Omar.
But it wasn’t until the boys fronted Scott at Block HQ that they received an apology.
‘On a personal note, I want to apologise to Omar and Oz on behalf of The Block,’ Scott began.
‘With the rain we’ve had over the last month, we were unable to finish your shed – and therefore, you were unable to finish your room. So for that, we say sorry.’
