Volvo Bus will be presenting its vision for the future at this week's Bus & Coach Expo
Volvo Bus Australia is joining the wave of manufacturers at this year’s Expo as it pulls out all the stops with its new electric chassis.
On its stand, Volvo will give visitors a showcase of its BZL Electric chassis with a body built by Express Coach Builders.
It’s a new direction for Volvo Bus Australia, and general manager Mitchell Peden is excited about it.
“The Volvo BZL Electric, which launched last year ,is our first fully electric chassis in Australia,” Peden told ABC. “It’s the first time we’ll display the body design with Express Coach Builders, which will be great.
“This chassis will allow us to also highlight in particular the New South Wales regional build capabilities of our models to show we are building in NSW, for the NSW rural and regional market.”
While Volvo showcases its BZL Electric chassis, it’ll also display the company’s latest movements around safety and quality assurance. But its biggest conversations will be had around environmental care and sustainability, within and around the Volvo BZL chassis.
“Particularly in Sydney and NSW, the state government has flagged it’ll only be procuring electric vehicles ongoing in the city space,” Peden says. “Volvo has a strong history of diesel buses, but this show is about our new technology and long-term vision for the future.”

The new Volvo BZL Electric chassis is particularly exciting for Volvo. It was launched in Australia last year, but the Expo will be the first time people get a chance to see the design. While it provides a platform for the zero-emissions chassis to be shown, Volvo will also continue discussing its reliable after-market customer support with visitors.
“We’re keen to show our ability to build with a NSW-based partner to bring to market a product tailored for the NSW regional area,” Peden says. “Being an innovation leader, we want to take part in these conversations going forward and we welcome everyone to see our vision for the future at the Expo.”
